As a child, I was always taught the importance of rest and how God even rested on the 7th day after the creation. The interesting thing about resting is that it sounds so completely easy to do and like something that we should definitely WANT to do. Right? But why does it seem so hard to find time to do it? After all, how can anyone possibly have time to rest when we all have a zillion things written on the to do list and when our minds are constantly at work?
But recently, I realized that finding time to rest, reflect and decompress is not challenging, but it is rather a simple decision that many of us choose not to make. We make several excuses as to why we don't have the time to rest when really it is just a matter of doing it. I came to the conclusion that it is mentally and physically unhealthy to keep being sleep deprived, overworked, and constantly in motion with no end in sight. Therefore, I had to start making rest a priority and that I was not good for anyone else if I did not take care of myself. We must choose to rest so that we can make time for God to pour back into our spirits and revive us. Rest, rest, rest. Today, I challenge you to rest.
